A Very Covid Halloween

It’s October! Which means all the basic witches are out there sipping their #PSLs and snapping pretty leaf pics for the gram. But it also means we’re prepping our bellies for some delicious candy snacks and scouring Pinterest for obtainable costume ideas because Halloween is right around the corner! And yes, it’s yet another one of our holidays that we have to rethink because of covid, but who’s going to let a pandemic get in their way of fun? Most certainly not us.

We want to make sure everyone is able to celebrate safely while keeping everyone healthy. Halloween is amazing, but more importantly, we want everyone feeling gourd as hell! So here are a few alternatives to your traditional trick-or-treating that will still be loads of fun for your little ghosts and goblins. All of these ideas plus a few more can be found on our Pinterest page!

halloween parade

Halloween Parade

Bust out the balloons, crate paper, and glow sticks! Decorate your bikes and wagons and have a parade in your neighborhood. Bring a portable speaker so you can rock that Thriller soundtrack (who doesn’t love a dancing parade). If you want to deliver little goody bags to your neighbors, we found a ton of cute printables on Pinterest! If you’re in my neighborhood, pack a cooler in that wagon stuffed with adult beverages!

trunk-or-treat halloween

Trunk-or-Treat

Some neighborhoods have amazing Trunk-or-Treat traditions and we think this would be great to do with some friends, family, or neighbors. Gather a small crew and head to a parking lot (bonus points if you find one near a park or available open space so the sugar monsters have plenty of room to run off that energy). Decorate your car to make it feel more like a celebration and less like a kidnapping situation (especially if you have a white van...just saying). We love this set up from Shindigz!

halloween scavenger hunt

Halloween Treasure Hunt

It’s like an Easter egg hunt in October! Etsy for the win! This instant download will give you everything you need for an exciting scavenger hunt around your house. We recommend printing on cardstock for a more legit experience. Pro tip: spray paint easter eggs to glow in the dark!

halloween kids craft

DIY Spider Web Craft

If you’re looking for a Halloween inspired craft, these homemade spider webs will keep those little hands busy. They’ll get to paint the sticks then weave the yarn around them to make the webs. Overall they require very little supplies and will look cute hanging up no matter how well the yarn gets wrapped. Win win!
