Keeping Our Laundry Game On Point

While there are some chores around the house I honestly enjoy, laundry is NOT one of them. I’m the laziest, throw everything together at once, sort of person. My husband likes to joke that I expect too much from my appliances, but I feel they want to be challenged. How many sets of sheets and clothes can my washing machine handle? Can I toss in a pair of shoes too? Because my laundry game is so rough and tumble, I’ve got a new trick up my sleeve to lessen the beating my clothing takes. FINE MESH LAUNDRY BAGS. Congratulations if you have diligently been using them for years. If not, read on below to see just how useful they can be and also discover a few unexpected ways to use them.

Laundry

  • Washing intimates. Laundering your bras in a mesh bag will help maintain the shape of your garment and prevent the hooks from snagging other articles of clothing.
  • Swimwear. I don’t have many rules when it comes to laundry, but my bathing suits are an exception. By using a mesh bag you can toss them all together and then easily pull them out of the load when transferring your wet clothes to the dryer. It saves SO MUCH time and helps prevent your swimsuits from accidentally going through the dryer (ahem, hubby).
  • Delicates. I don’t currently own many delicate knit tops, but I have big plans to when my child is grown and I can go back to being fancy. When that time comes I will most definitely launder them separately in a mesh bag so that my jeans, buttons and zippers don’t jack them up. By then the distressed look will be waaaay out of style and we won’t be trying to revive it.
  • Socks. How the f^#k does a sock get lost every time a load of laundry is done?? Well, my friends, I have a solution. Fill your mesh bag with dirty socks, throw the whole bag through the washer and dryer, and ta-da!. If you STILL have a sock without a match….then I’m sorry for your loss.

Toys

We all know we should be washing our children’s toys regularly, especially after a bout of runny noses, but how many of us actually do? If given the choice between hand-washing toys or any other task on our enormous to-do list, the toys will land at about 47th out of 50. So, I present to you this bomb ass idea I found on Pinterest! Collect the toys you want to wash (legos, blocks, cars, anything!), stuff them all in your mesh bag, and put the whole thing through the wash. The toys are neatly contained within the bag and you’ve successfully eliminated sickness from your household. At least for now, right? Yes!

Travel

Last but not least, use your mesh bag to keep your suitcase organized when traveling! All your intimates will be in one place so you don’t have to dig around looking for a clean pair of underwear. Plus, when the TSA goes through your bag, then you’ll appear to be tidy AF.

There you have it! I’ve been using mesh bags in various ways for a few months now and honestly, every woman needs one (or three) in her life. Chandler and I decided to buy A LOT of these babies and include one with every bra purchase while supplies last. Just cuz we love ya and it’s World Breastfeeding Week. XO! Lauren W.
